Probably the coolest #GPOYW I’ll ever have. Got to play Sunshower while Chris Cornell sang during his Indianapolis show on his current songbook tour, almost finished writing about it. You can even check YouTube for videos posted by fans I don’t even know, just search for Chris Cornell with Eddie from Chicago.
In case you missed it, because we only played to an audience of one, three if you count the dogs, Jason and I rocked out for his 40th birthday. Set list was Wagon Wheel, Good Riddance, Brown Eyed Girl, Paint it Black, and Knocking on Heavens Door. They all sound really fun with a banjo. Steak, beer, and cheese were all on the menu. Don’t be jealous. (: Oh, and cheesecake for dessert.
Circa April 2006 in Georgia. This was the last time I filled that pretty car up with gas before I wrecked it down there and my life turned into a mess. Some shady locals and crooked cops ended up stealing it from me legally, instead of storing the car until I could have it towed back to Indiana. The car was 1 of 3 Formula Firehawks made in 2000 with all the same options and I’m probably never going to see it again. VIN# 2g2fv22g2y2105039 and it was recently sold to someone and titled in Michigan. Such bullshit because I still have the Indiana title, a set of keys, and all of the paperwork on the cars history and mods I did which they probably stripped off. Not sure how they managed to repair the fucked up frame, it was totaled from a tree that smacked into the passenger side door jam. That wreck doesn’t even show up on carfax years later. Shows how much you can trust that site.
How did they get away with it? This Georgia guy claimed to have sold the car to a friend but lost the title in the mail when it happened, so they got a new Georgia title subject to the rights of the previous owner. I never got any notification sent to my address in Indiana notifying me. Thank you shady cop who inspected the car saying it wasn’t wrecked and didn’t send me notification. Time passed and when it came time to ship the car they wouldn’t release it unless I paid them storage fees. Fees we never negotiated on or that I signed on for storage. I went down for a car show. Had an unfortunate wreck that my insurance wouldn’t cover. The guy Dave who worked at Year One said he would start it for me weekly until I could afford to ship it back up and that it wouldn’t be a problem. It was sitting on his friend’s property which they told me wouldn’t be a problem. Then the place where it was sitting wanted to charge me 6k for 11 months storage before they would release the car they illegally titled. Georgia law enforcement wouldn’t help me because I’m out of state and said what the guy did didn’t break any laws. I can’t press charges in Indiana because it happened in another state. The FBI won’t do anything about the fraud but send me to local law enforcement and I’m back in a loop of they didn’t break the law. I was 11 months out of college and 2 months into my first job. Hell of a way to spend your first paid vacation ever. The worst part is I didn’t ask my Dad for financial help and he could have dropped the 1,000 to tow it up that week. He will regret not doing that till the day he dies even though it was my car and my decision to man up and take responsibility since I had a job. It took me five years of saving every penny up to buy that car after selling off my Camaro and now I have nothing. Just a shitty 94 Geo that gets good mileage. If you’re someone who happens to be searching that vin# and knows where the car is please get in touch with me.
Wednesday night, insomnia and songwriting in my hotel room. Taking a photo break while my neighbors get their fuck on.
Met the Goo Goo Dolls last week. It was short, sweet, and fucking awesome. Sources say I may have made them a cd of my songs too which I hope they enjoy. Left to right it’s Mike Malinin, Me, John Rzeznik, and Robby Takac. If you’re deaf and this means nothing to you then this picture is just, well, a bunch of Pollacks. Na zdrowie!
